About Pet Prairie

Driven By Compassion & Empathy

The Harris family has been in the funeral industry providing services to Michiana families for more than 50 years. To begin, Pine Lake Vault was purchased by the Harris family in 1962; it later became a Doric burial vault franchise in 1987. Current owner Scott Harris bought the business from his family in 1996. In 1999 Scott and his wife Lisa saw a need in the community for cremation services and opened the first human crematory in La Porte County, La Porte Cremation Service. Since then, Scott has changed the name to Harris Precast, moved to its current location on West Severs Road, and added Pet Prairie in 2015 to the business’s offerings, now in the building that once housed La Porte Cremation Service.

Pet Prairie will continue to grow along with Harris Precast, thanks to the Harris family’s dedication — daughter Zoya Harris has stepped up to help run the business — and continued passion for providing the residents of La Porte County and beyond respectful burial services.
